Getting Healthy With Regard To Soccer Games

By Ahmed Ruopoli

A lot of people think that soccer is just running, but those are usually the people that are uninformed about the game. If you really want to make yourself into the ultimate athlete, then you've got to do a heck of a lot more than run on the soccer pitch. In fact, your sprinting ability is going to be way more important.

That's why a lot of soccer players actually train more like sprinters than they do long distance runners. Sure you've got to be able to run for 90 minutes, but you've also got to be able to move fast for that time.

If you can't sprint, you're not going to win any balls, and you're really going to be useless in a dead run against another player. That's why a lot of leg and muscular work is essential.

But you just have to develop the muscle memory and instant control that come from practice. There's only one way to really improve at soccer, and that is to play, and to play very often as well.

There are drills that's should always be run in practice to work at both defending, as well as attacking at the same time. You need your forwards to be able to protect the ball better, but you've also got to be able to ensure that the defenders can handle situations where they outnumber the attackers.

There are going to be situations where as a forward or even midfield player you've got to shove a defender off the ball to try and come off better in a potentially dangerous situation.

The defenders are going to have to learn to be smart, not stretch themselves, and then also how to cover effectively to cut out the passing lanes. Also how to stand up as a line creating opportunities to block offside passes.

Talent can help with that sort of thing, and you've got to put in the effort on the pitch if you want to fully realize your abilities, otherwise you're just not going to get anywhere with your fitness.
